Peace and Work

“Therefore, without being attached to the fruits of activities, one should act as a matter of duty; for by working without attachment, one attains the Supreme.” ¹

In the west, this is not considered common sense teaching. Rather, we are taught to believe that not only are we responsible for knowing everything, we are also responsible for our success. This idea has created a maddening need to control the uncontrollable — at work and at home.

If we’re wanting to live in peace and equanimity, we must cede the desire to control the output of our efforts; knowing that ultimately, mastery comes from experience. Not the exclusivity of repeated success.
