Take it with you

When you don’t know what else to do, it’s okay to just pick it all up and carry it with you.

I prefer a clean trip. I like to pack light, carrying only exactly what I need. I hate confusion, muddled priorities, aggravation, and frustration. Anger hurts me to my core, and resentment makes my stomach churn. It’s all too heavy to carry. I like to let go the minute I’m injured.

The only way I’ve ever known to get rid of this stuff is to think it through so I can let it go. But sometimes, there isn’t enough time to sort it all out. All the wisdom I need to move past a thing isn’t available, and it may not get there anytime soon.

So, I’m learning to just pick up whatever the water didn’t carry. If rage won’t turn me loose, if hurt won’t let go; I guess it’s all coming with me. It’ll all be jammed up between joy and some old hopes and dreams. But I’m not going to sit in it for longer than I need to. If it all insists, we’re going. By the will of God, we’re going moving onto and into something better.
