Springtime Resolutions
While most people are busy making their new year resolutions during the month of January, I’ve come to expect that I won’t have a clue about what I want to bring in for the new year.
I used to spend hours, even days, making vision boards and combing through my day planner with mechanic precision. Over the last 3 or 4 years, I haven’t felt ready to do it in January.
It could be a side effect of being self-employed. But I’m more inclined to believe that my internal clock has adjusted itself to flow with the seasons. Somewhere over the years my body, mind, and spirit got together and decided that my New Year would start in Spring.
I’m not quite in tune with Chinese New Year either, since I’m still a bit foggy come end of February. But somewhere in early Aries season, I start to feel alive!
In 2026, I’m once again embracing this attunement. The last two years of my life have been a bizarre and profound nightmare. However, they’ve blessed me with an appreciation for the ancient adage of lying low during the whole of the season. I’ve mastered my gift for patience in intensity. Raw endurance – and how to leverage the vacuum for an abundance of focused energy for the spring.
So if you don’t feel like making any resolutions or running to the store to buy a planner, no worries. Take the pressure off your back. You don’t have to. You probably don’t need to, and you’re probably not ready. Wait.
I’m prayerfully preparing for better this year. And I’m trusting what I’ve learned about attunement will begin to yield a soft joy come Aries season.
