Let the Water Carry It

There have been times in my life where I’ve invested in something – a relationship, a friendship, a project, and through some horrible betrayal, lost everything I worked for. One betrayal after another until I eventually learned loving detachment. I learned how to let the water carry it.

Tears, the currents of time, the ebbs and flows of changing human dynamics,

Let the water carry it.

A good cup of coffee or a sweet, slow drink,

Let water carry it.

A hot shower or a dip off the coast of a salty sea,

Let water carry it.

A tearful prayer to Yemaya,

Let water carry it.

Because much like Moses’ mother, sometimes we have to let the Supreme orchestrate our lives for us. Had she kept baby Moses, he and the entire family would have been killed. Many of us wouldn’t be here today.

Redemption isn’t an exercise you press into. It’s a reconciliation that comes to you. The tides come and go. If you can let the water carry the pain away, what is returned to you can give new life.

Let it come.

Let it go.

Let the water decide what will be returned to you.

Steady your feet in the current and keep your heart open. It’s really the only way to stay alive.
